Scientific classification - Lophophorus spp.
The best known species of this genus is the splendid Lofoforo (Lophophorus impeyanus), quite rare in captivity, native to the dense forests of the Himalayas, where it lives between 2000 and 4000 meters above sea level.
The genus includes two other species: the Lofoforo of Sclater (Lophophorus sclateri) and the Lofoforo of Huys (Lophophorus lhuysii) which are however very rare both in nature and in captivity.
Animals with colorful plumage, with tail and short legs; their body is rather stocky and their gait is less graceful and slender than other pheasant species.
